Alan Swanson
Mr. Swanson is the founding attorney of the Swanson Law Firm. He was born in Olympia, Washington in 1948, graduated from the University of Washington in 1970 and obtained his Juris Doctorate from the University of Montana in 1975. He has been living in Olympia and engaged in private practice as a lawyer in southwest Washington since 1975.
He is admitted to practice law in both the State and Federal courts. He is a member of the Washington State Bar Association, the Washington Defense Trial Lawyers Association, and the Thurston County Bar Association.
Mr. Swanson has been awarded by Martindale with the AVVO Superb Attorney Rating. In 2014 he was awarded with the Daniel Bigelow Award in recognition of his outstanding professional and community service. He has maintained a private practice since 1975, representing clients in civil litigation, including insurance defense, personal injury, business and real estate law. He is a past President of the Thurston County Bar Association (1986-1987).
His clients include leading insurance companies, banks, construction companies, businesses, and private parties in the southwest Washington community. His practice also strongly emphasizes mediation and arbitration. Due to his experience in representing litigants in a wide variety of matters, he is regularly stipulated to by opposing counsel to serve as a mediator or an arbitrator in personal injury, business, real estate, and probate/trust litigation. Mr. Swanson’s practice extends throughout southwest Washington.
Mr. Swanson is also active in community service in the Olympia area. He is past President of the Mount Rainier Chapter of the American Red Cross, covering Pierce, Thurston, Mason and Lewis Counties. He has also been active in the Thurston County Big Brother/Big Sister program, and is a past board member of United Way, POSSCA, Tumwater Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America, Senior Center of Thurston County, and other community and volunteer organizations.
